Europe: Internet now Stronger than Newspapers

Newspapers_and_internet A recent study published by the Financial Times and done by Jupiter Research, reveals interesting figures concerning the evolution of Internet compared to the traditional media newspapers. The study completed from a sample of more than 5 000 people residing in Germany, Spain, France, Italy and in the United Kingdom, shows that in Europe Internet exceeded the popularity of the traditional newspaper industry.

According to the study, people would spend an average of four hours of their time per week to surf on Internet, contrary to the three hours devoted to reading the newspapers and magazines. In Europe however, television remains the media of predilection since always according to the study, Europeans would on average devote more than twelve hours each week to look at tv programs.

A study published by Mediametric last July showed that in Europe, more than 18 million people are connected to high-speed Internet, and that the internet surfers obtained the highest ratio of surfing among the countries concerned with the study with an average of five hours of surfing per week.
