Domain names: what is the tendency?

There would be a certain tendency in the choice of the domain names of Internet sites throughout the world. Thus, the French site "Domaines Info" announced last Friday that the domain names will reach the 110 million on a world level during October. Moreover, the statistics published by "Domaines Inform" reveal that the five principal extensions were the .com with 56,4 million domain names, the .de with 10,1 million, the net with 8,l million, the .uk with 5,2 million and the org with 5,1 million names. The appearance of the .mobi these last weeks would be a true success until now. If the .com loses in popularity (50 % against 58 % in December 2005), the extensions .eu, .fr, .ca and .us seem, as for them, to gain points. Indeed, since its launching in December 2005, the .eu already reached the course of the 2,1 million recorded names. Since last June, the .fr increased by 24 % with 631 552 names, the .ca 17 % with 739 681 names and the .us 24 % with 1,12 million names. In short, it is the undeniable proof that Internet is far from being a fire of straw. It gains more and more in popularity throughout the world and becomes increasingly accessible to all.
